My favorite part of this project is meeting people who are actively creating. (Cue image of Bugs Bunny brushing the hair of that big red thing crooning about meeting the most “Innnnnnteresting people”)

Episode 6 “Voice” was the first time I had people in my home who I hadn’t met before. I am in awe of those who allow themselves to create and risk again and again. It inspires me.
Brenda Paterekas inspired me to do storytelling, which eventually lead to me to create Tale Spin. She graciously came to my home to record four stories. I had been toying with the idea of interviews but I was embarrassed to start. I didn’t know what to say and I felt a bit like a fraud interviewing people about their art when I had created so little myself. After she recorded her story, she just started talking about finding your creative voice and her reverence for art.
Brenda writes short stories that are published in many different compilations. She is one of my heroes.

Moli Fatu read from his book “The Diary of a Mad Uso: Usolosopher” After you hear his poetry, you will understand while he is in the episode “Voice”.

I have been Donna Hilbert’s Facebook friend for several years before I met her when she came to record. She is an uncommon balance of genuine and elegant and I enjoyed being around her. In the series of autobiographical poems she read, her voice comes from a time before mine. A time when the expectations on women were different. I learned a lot from her in a brief time.
